so we kind of hit the big time ……….

Its been such a long time since my last blog, hope I can remember how to Blog. So i sign in to my blog, and i see that word press has changed, it looks a lot easier,

Maybe I can get back to blogging, I guess only time will tell, any how, things are good in the oldmanleslie house, I still haven’t found better coffee any where than here IMAG0783

I have tried to cut down on the junk food, so no more bad service from KFC or subway  I guess that’s one way to ensure you don’t get bad service , to stop using something

Still Proud of my family and the way they make me smile ,Still working for the same company   and still drumming withsamba guy www.celebrationsamba.co.uk/ and looking  forward to a Busy  summer……

Oh by the way , did i mention that  This  Sunday coming, Worthings Samba Band  are playing  and leading a procession into the Amex Stadium In Brightonamex-stadium-1 (1). to and audience  of 10000+ people. All out to support something in support of a new bishop. you can find details  from #festival50 on the usual channels .

So why do i choose to blog this . Simply for the reason that if you see something that you think looks good, try it , do it because you enjoy it , and do it to the best ofestival-50-landscape-finalf your ability …. I had no idea that when i heard a  little samba band at my local carnival  2 + years ago that i would one day be playing with them  to 10000+ people , least of all looking forward to it

Disgusting service and an extra that I really really didn’t want

So as people read my blog will know during the school holidays we like to go out for a little bit of take away food every now and again we had previous bad experiences with our local kfc and we thought we would pop in yesterday and give it a try just to see how good it was and to establish that the experience we had had was isolated however this turned out not to be the case we ordered our food and it was all put together and delivered reasonably quickly sat down we drank we talked just enjoyed our lunch early and it was only when i came to pick up my drink at the end of my mail to have a drink i thought it was strange that there was a big lump of ice left in the bottom of a cup so i lift the lid on the cup and found that it was not ice in there it was actually part of the drinks machine that Han fallen into my cup nobody had noticed it and it had been served to me I questioned with the people in the restaurant how this thing has been cleaned what detergent have been used what chemicals have been used and therefore because it has been in my drink what i had therefore ingested nobody was forth coming with any information at all

my suggestion would be with regards to kentucky fried chicken in bognor regis the drive thru is given a very very wide berth

I have to add that i was refunded the cost of my meal and therefore i cannot complain about the price charged but i feel that the service i was given in my opinion was disgusting

I have obviously asked the restaurant for a full feedback in writing i don’t anticipate i will hear from them they did ask me to return the item to them which i haven’t done and i’ll wait to hear from kfc head office

Subway store in bognor Regis….best avoided

For a lesson in the most complex buy one ….get one free. That actually ended up costing more…and staff that encourage people to push to the front of the queue…cold subs by the time I sorted out the drinks and general bad service…

No non fizzy juice for the kids..

This is your best bet…..

Shame really as I like the brand

A Blog of 2 definate halves, And yes , spilt milk IS worth it

I have to be factually correct with this blog, so here goes….

  • The problem : Spilt milk in a car ,
  • The Reason: someone in store selected the wrong Milk from the shelf
The Issue: Global brand Not wanting to accept responsibility for its staff .

We used Tesco, our local store
Bognor Regis  for  a click and collect weekly shopping order in 2013, It included all the usual items  for a weeks shopping ( including milk ) .

We collected it from store, it was  loaded it into our car, Basically when we got home some of  the milk had spilt in the boot of the car. We contacted Tesco who refunded the cost of the milk, and sent a new one out to us ( thank you ) , we showed the driver that delivered the new milk, the spillage in the car , and he said we would have to take that up with the store.

He also asked if we would be prepared to write a letter to the store suggesting that the milk  spilling was the manufacturers fault ….

Any one knows me knows that just wasn’t going to happen as it wasn’t the  manufacturer we bought it from , they also know ,that   Milk Stinks if it is left  to soak in , so we asked for the car to go back to the main dealer to be  cleaned and ” de  potentially stink ” .  this took about a week  of emails and calls  and in the end Tesco said they could do it with their  valets at store  and as a favour to us they would valet the whole car for the inconvenience .waves This was a bad move to give them the car, The damage they caused to the interior of the car  was  amazing, it was left with seats and panels that had not dried out  some 6 weeks later.

A meeting was held in the car park  of the store, that felt like a High Noon Meeting from the days of the wild west , the valet said it wasn’t their fault, the store said the matter  had to go to head office, so we  spent another 3-4 weeks  chasing the  head office, only to be told that  i was obviously wrong in what i was saying, so i went  back to the store and had to make a scene in the store with the manager / duty manager  who finally acknowledged that something should be done

We thank Tesco for Finally agreeing to  cover the cost of the repairs £1200+ from their valets, and  the original damage to the boot  where the milk soaked in.

We thank the main Dealer Honda - The Power of Dreams for  agreeing to help us in sorting this out and for their  brilliant service and support , both  from the sales & service teams.

For Both companies i have agreed NOT to name individuals as this would not be fair

My concern is….

  • It took a hell of a lot of phone calls & emails to resolve
  • Tesco seem to want to divert the  problem away from them, back to it being the customers error or  Tesco want to blame  the supplier
  • Tesco  head office Accused  the customer ( me ) of lying
  • It took some one at store manager level to actually get this sorted out after 3 months of calls etc.

Tesco are still thinking that we will be shopping with them in the future, This is not the case as we have found that in our opinion Sainsbury’s offer  what we consider to  be a better on-line service.

Honda, we went to for the car as they had provided excellent service in the supply  of my last company car , and  although they are ultimately interested in selling cars, the support  with the ” spilt milk ” issue has shown that they really do Go the extra mile to help when needed….

We  buy more milk, than we do new cars, but i know from this experience which  of the 2 companies i would recommend and which i would stay well clear  of in future

Why should it be the customer who has to chase the big corporate  when invariably it isn’t the customer fault

Another example of Not Good service…..but at least they changed the cup

so as  the sun decided to come out today , i guess like everyone else , the ” oldmanleslie” clan decided to go out for  a little retail therapy .

So off we went  to Haskins which is a regional Chain  Garden centre.  It was recently revamped to  basically be about 5 different types of restaurant  & coffee shops  and a place to buy plants and related things for the garden.Haskins Garden Centre

All i have to blog is that the service from the staff at  the tills, wasn’t good. I have never had the misfortune  of actually having some one  give me a discount because ” they haven’t answered when i have rung them , and i cant be bothered to check ”  when  as customers we had dared to pick up what was a plant that wasn’t part of the offer that  it was marked as….

Surely, the staff in  these places ” should be  bothered “.

The lady that was serving in the coffee shop wasnt, when she served my  coffee in a dirty cup,  but the lady that changed it for a fresh one in a clean cup was.

Simple  questions from this  are :

  • Is it wrong to expect proper service from retail staff  in ” brand ” owned shops
  • should it only be what appear to be the older staff that actually try to help

Having once again tried Costa  Coffee, and  still not had a good one, i think i will Stop trying.

I’m going to become a Starbucks Bunny, as although it costs a little more, its always nicer. And  for those  that follow my blog, you will know that if im local , it’s the London road coffee shop ( bognor  ) Sparks yard ( arundel ) and Lulamaes. all of which as far as i know are independent

does premium price assure quality of service…..

Whilst staying at Center Parcs in Elveden. Me and the family had what I can only describe as an experience of the worst customer service I have seen in a long time. I have full details of who said what…and when. Is it right to name and shame…..also the good things that happened
