What a great thing to do in the school holidays

Halfords are offering child school holiday bike workshops for children my sons did one of these during the summer holidays and another 1 today they are absolutely brilliant

They really teach kids what to do with their bikes .mums and dads have to stay with the child in the store workshop last 1 hour and as I say it’s really helpful for the kids pop into your local store and see if they are doing them i know that my boy and really enjoyed it  IMG_20141029_115011612

The kids also get a goody bag with a few nice bits in, and for each session, a certificate IMG_20141030_164250015

I guess this give them a good feeling of achievement. so that can’t be a bad thing

Our local store was Bognor regis for the initial invitation that i got was from halfords head office via hot uk dealsIMG_20141029_120557778

what a great little place, in a lovely little village -” jerichos”

On a late summers afternoon, when you are strolling through a large village , and you see the usual brands of Tesco, costa, boots, whsmith and a few others, you might be surprised to see a little independent shop  doing so well, …. well we found  Jerichos. What a great little place, not only selling sweets  that i hadn’t seen for ages, but selling some of the imported stuff that you just cant get in the UK . The village is rustington in west Sussex its a quaint place but im not sure if village does it justice for its size.

There is plenty of parking, plenty of shops , and most importantly plenty of places to look around..Any way back to Jerichos. Great selection to choose from . Prices not too bad  ( £1.00 for a can of cherry dr pepper )  which i  don’t think was too badIMAG0859 . Gave the boys the modern equivalent of  a few pennies they could spend, as I’m not one of those dads that takes kids to places then says they can’t have this or that . and let them go and choose the bits they wanted  .I’m not to  sure about the ” yoo hoo” but it sounded nice.

Sorry I cant give you pics of what the boys had, it’s all been scoffed ( I suppose it doesn’t hurt once in a while )

But one thing I did get which I have been looking for  for ages, is the  bag that has the descriptions of the jelly IMAG0860beans from Jelly Belly  so I can now  get started on the pot I got given earlier in the year that  had no flavours listed on them

Any way, like all good businesses there is a www for  jerichos   and of course , a face book and all the usual  tweet stuff, I just thought that in the spirit of having found somewhere nice , I would share with you , I have not been sponsored for this blog

Such an Inspiration ……………………

Just a bit of catching up on the Blog to do this morning, so  a few things that have been  on my mind this week, Shall i clog up people’s emails with individual Blogs, or just drop it all into one Blog ?

So here it comes, a mixed up Blog  :

Firstly and most important to me , its  only a month  until me and my Boys go out for our annual  trip to good wood for a bit of a skate .  this year  we have been offered  help by  quite a few  people , all skating, Scooting  & wheeling in support of  littlehamptonshopmobility.co.uk.  we will be trying to live Blog  on the day , but I’m not promising , as it’s all about the Skating for me for one day  only.   And also that for the first time in a long time, there are 3 generations of ” oldmanleslie” including the proper one out for the day, doing good things, and having  fun

Like every thing else, there is of course a button  to if you want to support us  financially. Just click-through here

Second thing for the week.

We  all think that our dad is the best  in the world, they are always special to us for many reasons. Just because  “it’s all about the Sharing ” i am going to share with you  a little secret, My Dad IS the greatest in the world, I have absolutely  no doubt about that, But I’m pretty sure that i can tell you  who the Number 02 best  dad is as well,  This dad is a TRUE  inspiration , and if you dig around a little on the web  you will see why

Then , during the week i had a bit of a downer ,Nothing too serious , i just heard on local TV news about  thegooddeeddiary. this is a positive thing  that a guy in the UK  is doing and it is to be praised, the downer was the thought that followed, ” isn’t it a shame that this isn’t the ” norm ” any more ”  and wouldn’t it be good to get back to it . Possibly Luke Can Keep it going and inspire others around him. Good deeds don’t have to cost money, we can all do them , just even 1 a day

But i ended the week on a positive, and it wasn’t  a sneaky latte, or  a free day out, it wasn’t  even something that i had been sent from a  PR /company to review. it was because i went  last weekend  in the pouring rain to see  the boys and girls at malpass meats. I will send them a link  to  the blog, however i just thought it was worth  a mention that  the steak we got was  Mouth watering” cooked of course by Mrs Oldmanleslie” and  over the last 20 years of  buying from them  i have always had great  meat,  cracking service . you might in fact call it ” legendary ”

Not much to blog about today ……

Other than I am so  very proud of  Number 01 son and his team  from Arctic Fox  ESU. Who have spent  the weekend  Taking part in the  ” overland Hike  ” . they have been out overnight in  the middle of the south-downs, they took everything they needed with them including food and a means of cooking it . Overland_Logo_new.png

2 boys and 2 girls in My sons team and  they finished it  in good time ( better than some that didn’t )

Some times Kids to-day get a bad reputation  that they don’t deserve, All I can say is thanks to the leaders of the Cub / Scout / Beavers & explorers packs that we have locally. The time they put in  is amazing, the experiences they give the kids, The way they get  kids thinking for themselves at a young age.

The commitment that means they see it through and keep going.

Thanks to  the team that my  son went  through with, and Most of all

Well Done Son

Stabilo ” SmartBall2.0″

Stabilo ” SmartBall2.0″ , Its a pen, and a touch screen stylus all in one, So you wouldnt imagine that there was a lot to say about a pen, in a review.

Well, thats what i thought, so when the people at BWP Primal asked me to review it it was to be a challenge…..

Not at all, the device is really tactile, the ball is smooth, its ” formed ” to be easy to write with , and it made my writing almost legible.

No having to scribble  to get it started, it worked straight out of the pack

The ” touch screen ” pointer at the other end worked fine with my Phone, and was more accurate than my fingers

The Pen point retracts fully and doesnt operate the  touch screen so you can ” use the wrong end ”

The Pen comes  securely packed and  would be easy to post, it came through the letter box so no having to go and collect it from the post office ,  It is available  direct from the manufacturer

Where they claim

“The best of both worlds.

  • STABILO combines smartphone operation with ergonomic writing comfort. The SMARTball 2.0 features an entirely conductive, optimised shaft design which makes it even smarter!”

I would say that is well deserved  and that this device is all that it claims to be, I Was sent this to evaluate  and review. But it really is as we have described ( in my opinion )

More free LEGO …great for kids if you can get there in time

What a great offer for  ages 6-14 – go into your nearest official Lego store on the first Thursday of every month between 4-6pm to take part in the Lego Mini Build.

http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/MiniBuilds

Stock is limited to 200-300 models per store (depending on size and location), and its first come, first served. The Staff will show your kids how to make the model worth around £5 . Once it’s been made the kids can take it home for free.

The models are different each month. Feb to April listed in comments.

I guess you can design something at home, then possibly build it in store

Participating stores include: Blue water, Brighton, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester Arndale, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Sheffield Meadowhall, Watford and both London Westfield centres.

There may be stores in other countries doing this,  have a look  and  in the top corner is a ” change region ” button

Good Luck  & Happy Building

“Build” Anything you can for Free with Lego,

 www.buildwithchrome.com/

What a brilliant one  this is, 2 of the biggest brands on the planet teaming  up to give kids something to do for free, I guess the idea is that you design it, then go to the nearest Lego store   and buy the bricks you need to build it ” real world”

Lego and Google  have teamed up

And the result is www.buildwithchrome.com/

A brilliant interactive platform  where you can even see if some one near you has built  something, I can see that there is a cost involved until you try to buy  the Lego

Binky’s Cake House …… what a great find, and even nicer cakes

So there i was earlier in the year looking for a Unique  thing to get ” Mrs oldmanleslie” for her Birthday.  we have been together a little while now  so  sometimes its hard to come up with a special idea. This year , it was easy, I was told about “Binky’s Cake House “ by a friend of Mine .

I was told they made special Birthday cakes and cakes for special occasions. so i had a chat with ” binky “( not her real name ), told the lady  what i wanted and pretty much left her to it . The result was a truly scrumptious cake that tasted gorgeous, made to my wife’s choice , and that looked even better, The picture doesn’t do it Justice, it was ” proper 3D ”

Now I know there are a lot of mums out there that make cakes for people , and im not saying  anything about their standards, all i can say is that the cake i paid for from Binkys was excellent value and for sheer delight for the look on my wife’s face it was worth every penny

Binkys are also a bit special as they can accommodate  Most dietary requirements, They Are a start-up business and they are so keen to do a good job. for you

They have a www presence, and aren’t Just on Face Book and you can see some of their handy work here  This is NOT a sponsored  blog, i paid for the Cake and am so glad i found them, If its something that little bit special you need , Binkys is the way

I am needing a bit of advice

So I decided that i will try to daily blog, I’m hoping its gonna be good to read, I will try to put a freebie in there some where  each time, But i want a spot of advice on how to get my blog far and wide. I look at  http://www.tots100.co.uk/2012/11/14/50-ways-to-increase-blog-traffic/ as i was pointed in that direction, My bloggings aren’t really child based though .

So where to begin …?

any how, here’s the freebie  i found .

Traditional Christmas..? what does that mean, traditional is something that you expect to see ..

generally something that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling ..

Dependant on where about in the UK you live  take your kids along, the whole Santa, warm & fuzzy Christmas feeling  is just around the corner  ( possibly )

http://www.cokezone.com/uk/en/coca-cola/find-a-coca-cola-christmas-truck-event

http://www.artistsandillustrators.co.uk/competitions/oil-painting/1022/win-a-box-of-rembrandt-oils

Yes its a competition, but its to win something  Arty that might get your children away from Screen based entertainment for  a few hours. You never know, you could discover a hidden talent..

Win a box of oils

Good luck

Somedays you have to think Hard on what to Blog…

Today is not  one of those days.

I’m sure I am just feeling the way that  thousands of dads all around the UK have felt today,  But I am so proud of my No 1 son….. I guess from this point i shall refer to him as youngmanleslie….

He is a good lad, and  always gives his best  at all that he does,

Well today all his  hard work paid off.

He has only gone and got his D of E  Bronze……

Just for the record he has put time in with so many  things  :

Littlehampton Shopmobility  , Volunteering  and helping people out

And To Top it all off he has honed his tennis playing

So good to see ” Our  Boy ”  doing good
