So when you get stuck in a bit of a rut, and then the rut changes for the better…..

Anyone who knows me and the rest of my clan knows that Saturday nights are generally skating nights. We are fortunate enough to go to a really cool, old-school club that’s been around for 40 years…. Nearly as old as old man Leslie…

They play a mix of the same old tunes, they hire out proper 4 wheel quad skates. And they are so family friendly in their normal sessions.

Well, they recently decided to do the first( in a long time) adults only extra hour… What a brilliant idea…. Not too many people, music was just that little bit different and good. Same old familiar faces, all enjoying themselves.

So why blog this, well as it’s a holiday town we live in, and people could be down here in sunny Bognor for all sorts of reasons. If you are here on a Saturday night. Check out our local sports centre and ask about the Arun skate club, or find them on Facebook.

As I  mentioned, a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday night, and if you land at the right time. Then a great child free hour for mums and dads

To the organisers. A big thank you

so thats it, Training over for another few months

I never knew it was so hard being a dad that tries to lead by example, Some of you will have seen my blog and will know that as a family we have been training for a family event .

went to the The South Coast Roll

For the second year running, Aiming to Skate Scoot push  our selves around the circuit. The South Coast RollWe had help from a few regular skaters that have turned out before  for the Charity we were raising funds for, They Know who they are, and they know how grate full we are to them for their brilliant efforts

So how does this become  “parenting tips ” blog

Well as the son of one of committee of the charity, i use my dad as my inspiration, and i hope to  end up half the man he is

And as a dad to 2 of the Skaters I am so Proud that they turned out, to help a really good cause…

I have always kind of Joked with  one of my sons about ” go hard or go home ” ….as a means of making sure you always commit  all that you can to all that you  do …..and then just that little bit more

Both of my boys did, 3 generations of ” oldmanleslie’s” out on the track at the same time , doing good things

It was just down to me  to try and put the cherry on top of the day by lapping the circuit in a wheel chair, after looking and thinking how hard could it be , well it was, i admit i needed help, but i got there…..

any way , a great day , should be running again next year, its NOT a freebie. but its brilliant  and great for families

so its time to let the world know ( or at least the little bit of it that see’s my blog )

today , i am back again volunteering at  ” the shop ” and NOW  its just about 2 weeks to go untill our BIG fund raiser

“the shop ” being  Littlehampton Shop Mobility , I get here when i can to help out as  i think its good to try to do what you can , when you can, It’s not all about the Money, or the freebies. But as always ” its all about the sharing ”

Today  we have what looks like the first hint of a summer’s day  and i hope that we are busy , cos if we are that means that people  that have Mobility issues are  using us to get themselves out and about to enjoy the sun.

Also here preparing for  the South Coast roll, where this year a team of ” mad fools ”  will be trying to propel themselves on skates, skateboards, in wheel chairs  and anything else they can find that isn’t motorized or pedaled , around good wood motor circuit  in Chichester ( West Sussex UK)

So why do i want to tell you this, well here comes the punchline……

We are doing it all in aid of the shop to raise funds to buy vital resources to help the local community. So I hope you will tell all your friends about  us, and maybe find it possible to support us

There will be pictures from this years event posted of course, but here are  some of our star skaters & Imageboarders from last years  attempt  when we raised in excess of £500  Image

There is a Facebook page for our efforts  and we will update as we get closer to the event

Image

Thanks for having a look and i hope you can see why we wanted to share this with you , I’m proud of my sons that are both doing their bit, just because they can, I’m grateful to  those with ” mobility issues ) family and friends. and its amazing to see that people will still come out and give up their time to support  a great cause

Another great night rolling with my skate family. As soon as I get on that floor, the music and people grant me so much happiness – all my problems became temporarily non-existent. It still amazes me how I’ve developed a bond with so many people, most of whom of ages FAR beyond my own (only kidding!)…

Start up UK manufacturer…now there’s something you don’t hear very often

My Blog says that i will Generally support UK manufacturers, I get requests from what turn out to be Resellers, NOT Manufacturers. I know everyone needs support, I just like the idea of backing The UK Manufacturers.

I had the fortune to run across the Man who Is  http://www.skatelight.co.uk/  at a local Skating Club last week .  He Makes these wonderful things from the component level  up …

Light kits for  can be manufactured for

The Web http://www.skatelight.co.uk/  has pictures Videos and all the usual things that you would expect. The thing that impressed me was the  brightness of the lamps as opposed to some of the other that we see at the club

If this  is something that you like the look of, then contact them direct or drop me your details and i will pass them on directly .

I just want to add that i haven’t been given a set of these  to review, I am not involved with the selling of them. I just think that when something  is as good as these are, and they are UK manufactured , then its worth trying to get the word out there
