What an excellent place to stay if you are in Wigan ( UK )

Not blogged for a few days, as i’ve been on a bit of a road trip, i wanted to tell  any one looking for a hotel in the Wigan area  about a place i found, i would recommend it to  any one so i thought i should blog it . the link is to their own page , i paid  £45.00  for the night including continental  breakfast .

No Sneaky Shop Bought latte’s today …

Today has been one of those weird sorts of days, Not the usual  Saturday in the ” oldmanleslie ” household.. very briefly

Went to see the  real ” oldmanleslie ”  this morning to sort out a few things, A brief trip into  sunny Bognor Regis, bumped into  one  of the guys i work with and his lovely wife… Spot of lunch which was fine

Then a trip up to the out-of-town retail park , for mrs Oldmanleslie to get a present for some one

Home for a spot of tea, then  sent Number 01 son off to  his skating,  whilst i was at home relaxing..

Best part of the day  was coffee this morning, Not a sneaky latte, but a ” proper coffee ” made from  the finest beans from Dads supplier, all i can go on is that the coffee tasted good  to me

 

a bedroom should be a place you can sleep in …..

All I can say about this hotel is that the Shower Pod / Room was basic, clean but Basic, The room was Small, with 2 single beds( not connected ) this was ok for me as I was on my own. The Cooling fan / AC didn’t work so the room was so hot at night ( room 501 ) I had to open the window…Not a good move as very noisy and still hot , so not a lot of sleep … Breakfast was Ok however it looked like it had been “under the lights” a long time .

 

I raised the issue of the AC not working with the lady at the desk the following morning; she said she would let me know once she had spoken to her manager. This never happened. All I can assume is that in the country she originates from this is classed as customer service as I have used ibis before and they have been much better at service

 

 

A meal that made Business a pleasure ……Shimla Pinks what a great place to eat

I was at the NEC for an exhibition on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, and  was fortunate enough to be taken to Shimla Pinks. For our evening meal.

What can I say, the restaurant is huge with plenty of Space, the food was gorgeous, and my only regret is that  we didn’t get the name of what we later found out to be the owner who looked after us. There were 7 of us, we opted for the Banquet arrangement as it gave us a great selection. The venue was true to its word, if you wanted something else you just asked for it. The service was quick, but not in any way intrusive. We went there because our MD had been there many years before, It turned out that the restaurant was still owned by the same people then. I didn’t get to see the bill as it was a company meal, but all i can say is that it was an excellent meal with great service and it made business a pleasure. Anyone who knows me knows, that its not always about the price, sometimes Quality Costs….this wasn’t my money but i suspect it was worth every penny

 

What a Gorgeous place to go for Breakfast…

One of the advantages of living where we do is that we are near the sea, which I have always liked. I subscribe to the theory that generally if there is something good on your doorstep , you may not Know about it, this used to be true of the lobster pot

Well this is now the 4th time we have been to the lobster pot and I am pleased to say that it was just as nice for Breakfast and a sneaky Latte this time as it was when we popped in for Lunch a little while ago with one of the drummers from Celebration Samba, as nice even as when we had to drop the boys off for an early cubs trip and basically they opened a little early for us for tea and toast

What an excellent place , with great views of the beach. The slight downside is that as it’s so nice, sometimes there can be a little wait. But then again, with the view, the sea air, the friendly staff, and the quality of what you get , Its defiantly worth waiting for .

For me , no prizes for guessing, it had to be a sneaky Latte, with my breakfast of Battered Fish In A Bap

It’s On the Prom at Felpham ( UK ) and it is WELL worth a visit if you are down this way

But don’t just take my word for it

Who would have thought of offering to help a customer

Anybody who knows me knows I like a sneaky latte coffee. Especially at the weekends.

Sainsburys in bognor regis just got it wrong.

Dirty tea cup that I had to clean for Mrs “oldmanleslie”. Guy serving that told me I had to wait for my latte as he couldn’t bring it over to us….even though I counted 6 people on duty….and not even a latte glass..

You get what you pay for I guess…£7.10 of NOT very nice
